Applicant should be: Seeking a degree in a Natural Resource Management field. An upperclassman, defined as at least a Junior in a 4-year program, in the second (or final) year of a 2-year program, or a Graduate Student. Preference will be given to: A Maryland Fur Trappers, Inc. (MFTI) member A family member of a MFTI member A member of any other state or national trapping organization A family member of any other state or national trapping organization A Maryland resident and/or attending a Maryland college or university Application will consist of: Background information on applicant, include college transcripts Questions relating to hunting and trapping (more specifically, ethics, conservation, management, rights, and privileges). These questions will vary from year to year, taking into account the current political climate and current events. They will involve essay-type answers. Writing ability will not necessarily be judged, but the applicant should possess the ability to get his or her point across in a clear and concise manner. An interview may be required. The winner may be required to talk at a General Membership meeting or a Board of Directors meeting. Funds should be used for tuition or books, and will be administered directly through the school. Amount of scholarship is $500 Past recipients are eligible for additional scholarships.
